You can go back and watch the video if you want, but it but yeah, she's back on today. So we're gonna, we're gonna make that right. So, without further ado, let's bring her back on.

Speaker 4:

Hello.

Speaker 3:

Hello, thank you again for coming back on. Like I said last time, like technical difficulties last time with my microphone, I don't know why it does it, but it does. It's not the first time it's happened either, but it's part of the game. It's part of the game. But anyways, before we get into everything, go ahead and introduce yourself to the audience one more time.

Speaker 4:

Hello everybody, hello all of my rock sees and hopefully my new rock sees. I am Roxanne Luciano.

Speaker 3:

Awesome now. How long have you been? We're gonna get into a video here really quick, but how long have you been in the music industry? In the music industry like just around it?

Speaker 4:

I've been around it all my life, literally all of my life. I didn't really start pursuing my music career until, I think, the end of 2020. I want to say time was gone so quickly.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so it's like you started launching like your individual career in 2020.

Speaker 3:

But that's when you started like main focus. That's. That's it. Yes, okay, all right. All right, so we're gonna get into, not your. I Want to say I want to save your latest single for the end, because you save the best for last usually, so I am gonna get into one. We are gonna play one video real quick that I pulled off YouTube. It's the winning video. Okay, if you want to go ahead and talk about that real quick, like what, what did you? What went into the making of this, the single-aim video?

Speaker 4:

Okay. So Of course, we all know that the girls are winning. The girlies are just doing their thing like amazing. So One day I'm just sitting in my room, I'm just like writing and I'm like visual, stay winning every fucking night and I'm like, oh shit, this sounds pretty good. And then I was like you know what's not even better putting more female rappers on there. I got a hold of them and shout out to Rene Rucci and Big Endo. I got a hold of them and they were with it. We were supposed to do a video, but the time Restriction has just gotten the way, so we kind of just put up a lyric video to it. So it's really just about luxury, lavish girls that are winning.

Speaker 3:

Nope, that's right. So yeah, let's get into this video real quick and then we'll be back with more Roxanne Luciano. So now's the time to roll up, get her, get her ready, guys. I'm a boss bitch. This is how real Gothещac paid in this pussy tight, awesome, awesome. Yes, I love it when I see it, when I have artists on and I play their music on the air and you just see them in the backstage screen. You just rocking out just to get down throwing shit. I love it yes, yes, yeah. The females are winning, oh go ahead.

Speaker 4:

I was just saying I love that song. That is one of probably one of one of my faves, one of the faves Okay. All right yeah.

Speaker 3:

I did play one of one of your videos last time I was up here. You were here on the show and it was like it was like an ass shaking video and it's pretty much. This one's got a little more tone down, but you can still shake your booty to it.

Speaker 4:

Yes, yeah, he's come a long way.

Speaker 3:

He's come a long way. That's funny, but yeah. So what made you want to get into music? Why did you pick up a microphone?

Speaker 4:

I've always wanted to do music. I think it was is something that I was born into with my father 20 Mercedes. He's a big producer, he's always put me around music and I just knew, like you know, years ago I wasn't really ready.

Speaker 3:

Okay.

Speaker 4:

So here we are, at 27 and we're like fuck it, like let's do it, let's do it. It's the perfect time Now. I'm ready.

Speaker 3:

Right, oh, to be 27 again. I wish I was 26. I'm a little on the older side now, but yeah, 27.

Speaker 4:

You're never old until you say you're old.

Speaker 3:

That's right. That's why I always tell people and I was like I don't feel, like I don't feel like I'm as old as I am, so I think I win on that one. But yeah, speaking of winning, you have a lot of female artists in the hip hop game right now and they're like household names now, like Nicki Minaj and Cardi B and a bunch of others. I'm probably forgetting a bunch of them, but yeah, it's like Eve. Eve was a legend and I once I saw this rap battle with Eve and Brandi and it was on TikTok and I did not know that Brandi could spit like that. It was just amazing.

Speaker 4:

I'm going to go watch that after we're done with this.

Speaker 3:

I don't like. It seems like it was kind of like polished up, you know, to make it look good, but still she had bars. It was pretty good.

Speaker 4:

That's amazing. I love me some Brandi. I love me some Eve. I need to hear Brandi spit something.

Speaker 3:

Right yeah. So, moisha, are you old enough to remember the show, moisha?

Speaker 4:

I remember a little bit.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I feel like that's more of my age. But yeah, moisha, such a good show. Ray J was on it too.

Speaker 4:

Yes, he was on it.

Speaker 3:

Before the whole Kardashian thing it was Ray J. Before it was Ray J.

Speaker 4:

Yes.

Speaker 3:

But, yeah, but what goes into making a music video for you, like what? Does it have to be polished up pretty well, or are you pretty much just like you know, just swing it and see what happens? You?

Speaker 4:

know, every time I do a music video it's different. Okay, sometimes it's like we're ready to go, everything is working the way it's supposed to go, and then you sometimes have videos where you kind of just got to wing it. Like you kind of got to wing it, things might not go the way that they're supposed to, the timing might be off, something happened with the location, something happened with the people, you never know. So you always just have to Stay ready. So you never have to get ready. That's right.

Speaker 3:

Stay ready. You gotta get ready. Has there ever been like a moment and like when you're shooting a video, you're just like fuck it, like you, let's just call it a day, like something went terribly wrong or something went Completely funny and just made you guys want to want to go even longer?

Speaker 4:

Both, both. I won't say so much like fuck it, I'm done, but there have been moments where it's just Like little things what happened, or like Just anything, and my anxiety is just horrible already. So, tom, sometimes I just get so overwhelmed and I'm just like fuck this, like I just need a second, but we still make it happen. We never leave until it's done.

Speaker 3:

Is there any like bloopers or anything that happened on set? Oh my gosh.

Speaker 4:

I wish, I wish Start like recording, like behind the scenes. The bloopers are fun, they're funny, like when you don't get something right or maybe you do something, you're like oh shit, this is different. Like it's fun, it's creative. Especially when you're in a room with all types of creative people, everybody's mind is going everywhere right.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, you're just trying to get, trying to get everything sorted out. Music videos are like hectic. I've heard people say that it's. It's pretty much. You're Constantly running around just trying to get the perfect shot and I have people say that no, it's pretty much a breeze. It all pretty much depends on who you work with.

Speaker 4:

Yes, it depends, it's. It's so many like Levels and obstacles that happen and things might get me away or things might present themselves and like a way better Dang that you thought it was gonna happen before. So I mean, it all works out. It all works out.

Speaker 3:

Now, do you have anything come like? I know you have this one new single that you just released. I believe was like a couple days ago actually.

Speaker 4:

Or a week ago.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, but yeah, do you have anything else coming up in the mix here? Pretty quick Listen. You've been driving signals that crazy so so the?

Speaker 4:

so what's so crazy? Okay, so here's another like like obstacle type of thing that Got in the way. What didn't get in the way? I traveled to Europe, oh Nice, I traveled to Europe to work on my EP. So it's six songs that have coming out. So instead of doing an EP I'm like you know what fuck it like. I'm still growing as an artist it will be better for me to just drop singles rather than drop a whole EP and Expect the world to just listen one by one. Rather than doing that, let me split all of you songs up. Everything's coming from Europe. My next six songs, including the most recent one, and and we are now moving on to pop oh, You're gonna be a pop star.

Speaker 4:

We're moving on to pop. We're moving on to like right break it on. We're moving on to like Spanish stuff, and it's a totally different ballgame.

Speaker 3:

I've heard of a lot of artists like are moving, like a lot of like the, the soft hip-hop, like artists are moving towards the whole, the whole pop scene. Now I've heard of some of them doing that and it's just amazing like they can, how they can just like structure, like they can do this or I can do this, it doesn't matter because I'm good at both. It's just amazes me that I can sing but I can also rap too.

Speaker 4:

So that's one thing that I never wanted. Like when I first started doing music, I always said I'm an artist, I'm not a rapper, I'm not a singer, I'm not. I'm an artist. You can put me in any genre and I'm gonna eat it up a lot.

Speaker 3:

Right, yeah, I had a let. I had a guest on probably about a month ago. A stray was on here and he was and he starting out, he was just, it was just a rapper, mix tape rapper, you know, he was pretty good, you know, had bars I had. I got his independent album, his EP and stuff like that and it's. And then he just started singing out of nowhere and I was like wow, I was like it's just, I didn't know he could have it in him and I had him on the show and I was like I didn't know you can sing like that back in the day, because I knew him growing up, he's just like he goes, he goes. I couldn't, he goes. But I picked up a couple of, like cassette tapes and picked up you know, some stuff on YouTube and I just taught myself how to sing. I'm just like wow, right, I was like okay, okay.

Speaker 4:

It's amazing when you can learn and you don't realize that you you have. You can do it Until you put yourself out there and get out of your comfort zone right.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, it's just amazing. It's just like, yeah, I just, I just Learned how to do it and I did it. I was like, well, I guess that's this kind of true you want to know how to do something bad enough, you'll learn how to do it. Absolutely you know I have to learn Spanish because my son is in kindergarten. In knows Spanish. That is amazing that they taught my kids Spanish behind my back. I think I should have like some kind of saying this, because I have no idea what he's saying half the time.

Speaker 4:

That is beautiful shout out to to my Panamanian family, because I lost my Spanish as I got older. It just it's gone. I have to relearn everything.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, they're teaching. Yeah, they're teaching these kids Spanish now, like in preschool.

Speaker 4:

That, I love it. I love it.

Speaker 3:

It's cool and all, but I have to do this too, you.

Speaker 2:

It's just like the whole new math thing I have to relearn math now.

Speaker 4:

That is totally different. I got nope. I don't want to do it. No, it's it's. It's so complex it. Math has never been my best subject, but now it's just like it seems so different, completely different. I was like fuck this, fuck all this.

Speaker 3:

I was like what was wrong with doing it there? Was I wrong the entire time? I was just wasn't doing right, it's just I don't get it. I'm like you get the same answer if you do it my way. I don't get it, I don't get it. They said to do something different, it do something different, but anyways, have you done? Have you done like a, any, like a performances, like on tour or anything?

Speaker 4:

So I'm actually getting ready to go on tour. My second single is coming out, I believe, on on the 11th of August and then that next week I'll be going on tour. Oh.

Speaker 3:

Next week. Oh, wow, so like now.

Speaker 4:

Yes, it's coming very, very.

Speaker 3:

Where are you touring to? You come to the East Coast, so we're going to.

Speaker 4:

We're going back to Alabama. Um, a couple of months ago I was in Alabama. I did um. I was in Birmingham, was a Montgomery, was in, yeah, those two places and that was awesome. I was just in Indianapolis. That was cool. That was really cool. That was different for me. I didn't even know that they listened to me out there, so that was really neat.

Speaker 3:

Awesome.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, yes, so we're going back. We're going back. I believe we're going back to Alabama and Illinois, a couple of other places. It's, it's, it's lined up, but it's a four-day Tour. We're going to different places every day.

Speaker 3:

Oh okay, nice, yes, nice, yeah. A lot of people, yeah, a lot of artists that I know they're going, they're just touring now. It's it's that. It's that time of year, it's summertime.

Speaker 4:

Absolutely.

Speaker 3:

I don't think anybody ever tours in a winter time. I think that would suck, especially around this these parts, especially if you got to play in Detroit we're.

Speaker 4:

That'd be terrible to be, just no you know what, when I went to Europe, I said anything is possible. It was so cold out there and I caught the European flu. Oh, while I was recording, like the second day that I was there, I Was, I was literally about to die like it was so bad. It was so bad that my dad was like just please, just get home. Yeah, I forget to sleep. My voice was halfway gone, shack out to all the producers pill finger Louie, benjamin Glico, like Split. Everybody helped me put this, all of these new songs together because I was done for like I couldn't breathe, I couldn't smell. It was what I would imagine COVID would be like. Like I couldn't smell, I couldn't taste nothing. That's a multiple COVID tests. They all came back negative. I'm like, oh my god, this was a horrible flu and my producer at the time he had the flu too, so it was just so bad.

Speaker 3:

Wow, it's like a disaster trip.

Speaker 4:

It was.

Speaker 3:

It was supposed to be something very nice and pleasant. You're supposed to explore new places and instead you're exploring the hotel room and and Hotel room to the studio, and that is it. Yes, that's terrible. I Would love to go to Europe, but I would have to. I would have to like go out and do things. That's why I don't like people that just like go to like we're just gonna go to a resort and I'm like I have never been to the state before. I want to explore.

Speaker 4:

It was pretty awesome, like when I first got there. I think, goodness, like the first day. So the first day that I got there went straight to the studio like as soon as I, and it was a 13 hour flight.

Speaker 2:

Wow.

Speaker 4:

As soon as I got there I got off the plane, went straight to the studio, did two songs, went back to the Airbnb. I went to a club out there. So that was fun. That was really me. I got to, you know, walk around a little bit and kind of get to know I was in Copenhagen. So it was nice until I got so sick. But it still worked out perfectly Like we got the job done and that is all I could ever wish for, right.

Speaker 3:

You ever plan on going back to Europe? Have you ever been back to Europe.

Speaker 4:

No, but I'm definitely going to go back.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 4:

Yes, I have to go back.

Speaker 3:

I'm afraid to fly. I can't go in, I can't go places because I'm afraid to fly.

Speaker 4:

I hate flying. So bad it might, like I said, my anxiety is so bad I don't like to fly. If I could drive everywhere, I would. I do not like flying.

Speaker 3:

Right.

Speaker 4:

But the flight was so smooth and I always heard that international flights are way different, like they're totally different. They're way more smoother and it was amazing. Until I came back and I could, my ears were like it felt like my brain was going to explode on the way back. It was so bad but I made it so.

Speaker 3:

Do you think that's because you're like maybe sick or something? Is that? Yeah, yeah, absolutely the air pressure.

Speaker 4:

It was so much pressure, so much pressure.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that's insane, it's insane. But yeah, who's? Who's like your top, your top five, your top five female artists will do that way.

Speaker 4:

Top five female artists.

Speaker 3:

Missy Elliott Of course Missy, Of course Nikki.

Speaker 4:

Okay, geez, this is crazy because I it's like I like so many people in so many different ways so I don't know if I could say they're my favorite, like top five favorite, but Missy Elliott, nikki, I would have to say they don't have to be rappers either.

Speaker 3:

They can be singers.

Speaker 4:

Lauren Hill.

Speaker 3:

Okay.

Speaker 4:

Ndre there you go.

Speaker 3:

And good old Megan Stallion, megan Stallion. Okay, yeah, there you go. Okay, I was expecting an Aaliyah in there, but it's okay. Because the whole, the whole Missy thing. I was expecting an Aaliyah to pop up there. I was wrong.

Speaker 4:

I love me some Aaliyah. I do love me some Aaliyah, but I could fit Erica Baidu in there. It's so many different artists, especially female artists, that I just I love Like I can listen to them every day.

Speaker 3:

Right, yeah, I wasn't big on the Foojies. I'm not a big Lauren Hill fan. I don't know why.

Speaker 4:

I just think her voice is so magnificent, it's so different.

Speaker 3:

Like like she does have a great voice. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying she's bad or anything. I'm not saying it was that that ever since she left the Foojies I wasn't just wasn't a big Lauren Hill fan.

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Either Wyclef either. Once the Foojies broke up, I didn't like any of them. To be honest with you, just crazy.

Speaker 4:

You're going to take him as a group or you're not taking him at all.

Speaker 3:

I mean, I guess Wyclef was okay, but it's, I guess not, I don't know. Foojies broke up. It's over. Do you ever see yourself as in like, as in like a, like a, maybe an all female group, or just like a group in particular, just like like the Foojies or, I don't know, like crime mob Is that? Was that one of them too, back in the day?

Speaker 4:

That was a group I like don't get me wrong. I think if they work, they work in there Like they're, they balance off each other perfectly. But I just don't know if I could whatever do a group. I just my brain just goes so many different directions Like I, I just need to be my own lane.

Speaker 3:

Okay, the groups are weird. I've had my issues with podcasting with groups. I've been in a group podcast before and they don't work out because not everybody gets along all the time.

Speaker 4:

Exactly Everybody.

Speaker 3:

And you got to, you got to settle squabbles and I don't like settling squabbles anymore.

Speaker 4:

I doubt my own brain. I don't think I need to.

Speaker 3:

There's enough going on up here. I don't need the outside attention either.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 3:

Okay, okay. So no groups for Roxanne Luchianna, just solo artists. Only. If you guys are looking for a female in your group, it's not her, so keep looking.

Speaker 4:

Keep going, you'll find it. You'll find it, just not here.

Speaker 3:

Just not there. Now what? What was it like growing like growing up in the music industry Cause, like you said, your father's, tony Mercedes and he's he was like involved with the whole TLC nose grubs thing that went like crazy platinum and it was so what was? What was your like childhood? Like was just like the stars running in and out of your house Like hey, what's up? Guys coming home from school.

Speaker 4:

He kind of yeah, like, yeah, like it was. I've never been star struck and I think it's just because I've been around that lifestyle all my life that it's like hey, oh, my gosh, you're amazing. All right, it's time for me to go do my homework. It was never something that I was just like fan phase crazy about, but I did. I loved, you know, being a part of it. I loved going to the studio with him like I will literally just stay the night at the studio, like I loved being there. I loved being around Artists and when she would do his music videos, like he would always bring me and that was really fun, that was cool.

Speaker 3:

So yeah, so it was so, he, he, so he kind of steered you in the direction, like, okay, to the music direction. He's just like, yeah, come on. Yeah, kind of like pushing it, pushing it a little bit, but, yeah, not so much, you just kind of just picking up on your own. Yeah, it's it, yeah, it's crazy. Um, I Always want, I always want my son to follow my footsteps, but it's kind of hard because I kind of want to make his own decisions too. But it's just, it is hard for a parent not to go. Okay, go this way, because I know what happens.

Speaker 4:

He's like I know he would support anything that I wanted to do, but I think when I finally told him that, okay, I'm ready, I think that made him like Okay, it's time to go to work.

Speaker 3:

That's crazy, but but yeah. Um. So when, when you do perform, like on stage and everything, is it like nerve-wracking? You find it nerve-wracking or do you find comfort in just seeing all the people?

Speaker 4:

So it's so crazy because you could put me in a room of ten people that I know and I would be Like my stage. I have stage right right put me in a room of 5,000 strangers and it's just like night and day like I can go out there effortlessly and just do it.

Speaker 3:

So you're more comfortable in front of a large group, like if it was like, say, five or ten people in the crowd, would it be a little bit nervous or no?

Speaker 4:

No, I would treat like it's five thousand.

Speaker 3:

There you go. That's just a mind trick for you.

Speaker 4:

Yes, I meant to shows where it was not a lot of people. Like it, like I could literally count on both hands how many people were in the crowd and it was still like it, like the whole room was filled, right.

Speaker 3:

So you don't look at the crowd and, just like you don't lose it, lose enthusiasm and you look at like a small crowd or anything.

Speaker 4:

No, I have to look at once on one stage. I'm on stage and that's a wrap.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I've heard, I've had people say that when they see a small crowd, they like lose. I don't want to say lose confidence, but they're just like, okay, what, what am I gonna go all out for? There's like five people here.

Speaker 4:

Oh no, it could be one person and I'm gonna treat the room like the room is packed.

Speaker 3:

Never know who those five people are, though exactly. All right, say, miracles do happen.

Speaker 4:

Absolutely. You gotta keep your a game on every time.

Speaker 3:

Exactly, you got to keep it on this, like well, she said, like you said before, stay ready, and you got to get ready, exactly.
